Doug Still Memorial Community Organizing Award created

For the first time, the Coalition has created an award to recognize those who empower others to stand up for clean and affordable energy.

The aptly named Doug Still Memorial Community Organizing Award will honor individuals or organizations for their commitment to directly engaging citizens in taking action for a clean and affordable energy future.

Doug Still was a founding member of the Coalition and former board and Oregon caucus chair. A lifelong organizer, he co-founded Oregon’s Solar Energy Association, fought for passage of the 1980 Northwest Power and Conservation Act and helped establish the Emerald People’s Utility District, serving on its board for many years.

The NW Energy Coalition board enthusiastically adopted the resolution to recognize those who continue Still’s work.

Doug Still died on July 1, 2007. Click here to read the Coalition’s tribute to Doug Still.
